10/20 = 10 × 9/20 × 9 = 90/180 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 9 × 20 = 180,
5/9 = 5 × 20/9 × 20 = 100/180 - Add the two like fractions:
90/180 + 100/180 = 90 + 100/180 = 190/180 - 190/180 simplified gives 19/18
- So, 10/20 + 5/9 = 19/18
