3/10 = 3 × 6/10 × 6 = 18/60 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 12 × 5 = 60,
4/12 = 4 × 5/12 × 5 = 20/60 - Add the two like fractions:
18/60 + 20/60 = 18 + 20/60 = 38/60 - 38/60 simplified gives 19/30
- So, 3/10 + 4/12 = 19/30
