Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 6 and 10 is 30

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 30
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 6 × 5 = 30,
    5/6 = 5 × 5/6 × 5 = 25/30
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 3 = 30,
    5/10 = 5 × 3/10 × 3 = 15/30
  4. Add the two like fractions:
