6/8 = 6 × 7/8 × 7 = 42/56 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 7 × 8 = 56,
1/7 = 1 × 8/7 × 8 = 8/56 - Add the two like fractions:
42/56 + 8/56 = 42 + 8/56 = 50/56 - 50/56 simplified gives 25/28
- So, 6/8 + 1/7 = 25/28
