- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
LCM of 10 and 6 is 30
Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 30 - For the 1st fraction, since 10 × 3 = 30,
2/10 = 2 × 3/10 × 3 = 6/30 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 6 × 5 = 30,
2/6 = 2 × 5/6 × 5 = 10/30 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 6/30 < 10/30 or 2/10 < 2/6
