Steps for comparing fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 3 and 10 is 30

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 30
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 3 × 10 = 30,
    6/3 = 6 × 10/3 × 10 = 60/30
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 3 = 30,
    3/10 = 3 × 3/10 × 3 = 9/30
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 60/30 > 9/30 or 6/3 > 3/10
