1/4 = 1 × 15/4 × 15 = 15/60 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 15 × 4 = 60,
12/15 = 12 × 4/15 × 4 = 48/60 - Add the two like fractions:
15/60 + 48/60 = 15 + 48/60 = 63/60 - 63/60 simplified gives 21/20
- So, 1/4 + 12/15 = 21/20
