Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 6 and 60 is 60
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 6 × 10 = 60,
    1/6 = 1 × 10/6 × 10 = 10/60
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 60 × 1 = 60,
    18/60 = 18 × 1/60 × 1 = 18/60
  4. Add the two fractions:
    10/60 + 18/60 = 10 + 18/60 = 28/60
  5. After reducing the fraction, the answer is 7/15
