Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 12 and 14 is 84
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 12 × 7 = 84,
    10/12 = 10 × 7/12 × 7 = 70/84
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 14 × 6 = 84,
    2/14 = 2 × 6/14 × 6 = 12/84
  4. Add the two fractions:
    70/84 + 12/84 = 70 + 12/84 = 82/84
  5. After reducing the fraction, the answer is 41/42
