Steps for adding fractions
- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 80 - For the 1st fraction, since 20 × 4 = 80,
10/20 = 10 × 4/20 × 4 = 40/80 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 16 × 5 = 80,
6/16 = 6 × 5/16 × 5 = 30/80 - Add the two like fractions:
40/80 + 30/80 = 40 + 30/80 = 70/80 - 70/80 simplified gives 7/8
- So, 10/20 + 6/16 = 7/8
