Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 28 and 6 is 84

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 84

    10/28 = 10 × 3/28 × 3 = 30/84
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 6 × 14 = 84,
    5/6 = 5 × 14/6 × 14 = 70/84
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    30/84 + 70/84 = 30 + 70/84 = 100/84
  5. 100/84 simplified gives 25/21
