Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 5 × 3 = 15,
    30/5 = 30 × 3/5 × 3 = 90/15
  4. Add the two fractions:
    50/15 + 90/15 = 50 + 90/15 = 140/15
  5. After reducing the fraction, the answer is 28/3
  6. In mixed form: 91/3
