  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 7 × 16 = 112,
    2/7 = 2 × 16/7 × 16 = 32/112
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    84/112 + 32/112 = 84 + 32/112 = 116/112
  5. 116/112 simplified gives 29/28
  6. So, 12/16 + 2/7 = 29/28
    In mixed form: 11/28
