12/20 = 12 × 3/20 × 3 = 36/60 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 15 × 4 = 60,
14/15 = 14 × 4/15 × 4 = 56/60 - Add the two like fractions:
36/60 + 56/60 = 36 + 56/60 = 92/60 - 92/60 simplified gives 23/15
- So, 12/20 + 14/15 = 23/15
