Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 70

    2/10 = 2 × 7/10 × 7 = 14/70
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 7 × 10 = 70,
    6/7 = 6 × 10/7 × 10 = 60/70
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    14/70 + 60/70 = 14 + 60/70 = 74/70
  5. 74/70 simplified gives 37/35
  6. So, 2/10 + 6/7 = 37/35
    In mixed form: 12/35
