Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 28 and 10 is 140
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 28 × 5 = 140,
    2/28 = 2 × 5/28 × 5 = 10/140
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 14 = 140,
    9/10 = 9 × 14/10 × 14 = 126/140
  4. Add the two fractions:
    10/140 + 126/140 = 10 + 126/140 = 136/140
  5. After reducing the fraction, the answer is 34/35
