Steps for adding fractions

2/4 = 2 × 9/4 × 9 = 18/36 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 9 × 4 = 36,
4/9 = 4 × 4/9 × 4 = 16/36 - Add the two like fractions:
18/36 + 16/36 = 18 + 16/36 = 34/36 - 34/36 simplified gives 17/18
- So, 2/4 + 4/9 = 17/18
