Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 70

  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 7 = 70,
    6/10 = 6 × 7/10 × 7 = 42/70
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    20/70 + 42/70 = 20 + 42/70 = 62/70
  5. 62/70 simplified gives 31/35
  6. So, 2/7 + 6/10 = 31/35
