Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 4 × 5 = 20,
    60/4 = 60 × 5/4 × 5 = 300/20
  4. Add the two fractions:
    50/20 + 300/20 = 50 + 300/20 = 350/20
  5. After reducing the fraction, the answer is 35/2
  6. In mixed form: 171/2
