Steps for adding fractions
- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 20 - For the 1st fraction, since 4 × 5 = 20,
3/4 = 3 × 5/4 × 5 = 15/20 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 2 = 20,
5/10 = 5 × 2/10 × 2 = 10/20 - Add the two like fractions:
15/20 + 10/20 = 15 + 10/20 = 25/20 - 25/20 simplified gives 5/4
- So, 3/4 + 5/10 = 5/4
In mixed form: 11/4
