3/5 = 3 × 9/5 × 9 = 27/45 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 9 × 5 = 45,
3/9 = 3 × 5/9 × 5 = 15/45 - Add the two like fractions:
27/45 + 15/45 = 27 + 15/45 = 42/45 - 42/45 simplified gives 14/15
- So, 3/5 + 3/9 = 14/15
