Steps for adding fractions
- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 18 - For the 1st fraction, since 6 × 3 = 18,
36 = 3 × 36 × 3 = 918 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 9 × 2 = 18,
39 = 3 × 29 × 2 = 618 - Add the two like fractions:
918 + 618 = 9 + 618 = 1518 - 15/18 simplified gives 56
- So, 3/6 + 3/9 = 5/6
