Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 9 and 10 is 90

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 90
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 9 × 10 = 90,
    3/9 = 3 × 10/9 × 10 = 30/90
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 9 = 90,
    6/10 = 6 × 9/10 × 9 = 54/90
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    30/90 + 54/90 = 30 + 54/90 = 84/90
  5. 84/90 simplified gives 14/15
  6. So, 3/9 + 6/10 = 14/15
