Steps for adding fractions
- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 30 - For the 1st fraction, since 10 × 3 = 30,
4/10 = 4 × 3/10 × 3 = 12/30 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 3 × 10 = 30,
1/3 = 1 × 10/3 × 10 = 10/30 - Add the two like fractions:
12/30 + 10/30 = 12 + 10/30 = 22/30 - 22/30 simplified gives 11/15
- So, 4/10 + 1/3 = 11/15
