Steps for adding fractions
- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 30 - For the 1st fraction, since 5 × 6 = 30,
4/5 = 4 × 6/5 × 6 = 24/30 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 6 × 5 = 30,
2/6 = 2 × 5/6 × 5 = 10/30 - Add the two like fractions:
24/30 + 10/30 = 24 + 10/30 = 34/30 - 34/30 simplified gives 17/15
- So, 4/5 + 2/6 = 17/15
