4/8 = 4 × 3/8 × 3 = 12/24 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 6 × 4 = 24,
2/6 = 2 × 4/6 × 4 = 8/24 - Add the two like fractions:
12/24 + 8/24 = 12 + 8/24 = 20/24 - 20/24 simplified gives 5/6
- So, 4/8 + 2/6 = 5/6
