5/10 = 5 × 3/10 × 3 = 15/30 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 15 × 2 = 30,
12/15 = 12 × 2/15 × 2 = 24/30 - Add the two like fractions:
15/30 + 24/30 = 15 + 24/30 = 39/30 - 39/30 simplified gives 13/10
- So, 5/10 + 12/15 = 13/10
