Steps for adding fractions
- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 70 - For the 1st fraction, since 10 × 7 = 70,
5/10 = 5 × 7/10 × 7 = 35/70 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 7 × 10 = 70,
4/7 = 4 × 10/7 × 10 = 40/70 - Add the two like fractions:
35/70 + 40/70 = 35 + 40/70 = 75/70 - 75/70 simplified gives 15/14
- So, 5/10 + 4/7 = 15/14
