Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 60 and 70 is 420

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 420

    50/60 = 50 × 7/60 × 7 = 350/420
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 70 × 6 = 420,
    1/70 = 1 × 6/70 × 6 = 6/420
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    350/420 + 6/420 = 350 + 6/420 = 356/420
  5. 356/420 simplified gives 89/105
