Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 60

    6/12 = 6 × 5/12 × 5 = 30/60
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 6 = 60,
    5/10 = 5 × 6/10 × 6 = 30/60
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    30/60 + 30/60 = 30 + 30/60 = 60/60
  5. 60/60 simplified gives 1/1
  6. So, 6/12 + 5/10 = 1/1
