6/7 = 6 × 16/7 × 16 = 96/112 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 16 × 7 = 112,
8/16 = 8 × 7/16 × 7 = 56/112 - Add the two like fractions:
96/112 + 56/112 = 96 + 56/112 = 152/112 - 152/112 simplified gives 19/14
- So, 6/7 + 8/16 = 19/14
