6/8 = 6 × 3/8 × 3 = 18/24 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 12 × 2 = 24,
4/12 = 4 × 2/12 × 2 = 8/24 - Add the two like fractions:
18/24 + 8/24 = 18 + 8/24 = 26/24 - 26/24 simplified gives 13/12
- So, 6/8 + 4/12 = 13/12
