Steps for adding fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 28 and 10 is 140

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 140

  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 10 × 14 = 140,
    8/10 = 8 × 14/10 × 14 = 112/140
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    35/140 + 112/140 = 35 + 112/140 = 147/140
  5. 147/140 simplified gives 21/20
