Steps for adding fractions

  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 6 × 2 = 12,
    1/6 = 1 × 2/6 × 2 = 2/12
  4. Add the two like fractions:
    21/12 + 2/12 = 21 + 2/12 = 23/12
  5. So, 7/4 + 1/6 = 23/12
    In mixed form: 111/12
