8/12 = 8 × 5/12 × 5 = 40/60 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 20 × 3 = 60,
10/20 = 10 × 3/20 × 3 = 30/60 - Add the two like fractions:
40/60 + 30/60 = 40 + 30/60 = 70/60 - 70/60 simplified gives 7/6
- So, 8/12 + 10/20 = 7/6
