- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
LCM of 24 and 80 is 240
Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 240 - For the 1st fraction, since 24 × 10 = 240,
1024 = 10 × 1024 × 10 = 100240 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 80 × 3 = 240,
1080 = 10 × 380 × 3 = 30240 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 100240 > 30240 or 1024 > 1080
