Steps for comparing fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 3 and 32 is 96
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 3 × 32 = 96,
    10/3 = 10 × 32/3 × 32 = 320/96
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 32 × 3 = 96,
    6/32 = 6 × 3/32 × 3 = 18/96
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 320/96 > 18/96 or 10/3 > 6/32
