Steps for comparing fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 35 and 36 is 1260

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 1260
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 35 × 36 = 1260,
    10/35 = 10 × 36/35 × 36 = 360/1260
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 36 × 35 = 1260,
    10/36 = 10 × 35/36 × 35 = 350/1260
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 360/1260 > 350/1260 or 10/35 > 10/36
