Compare 10/90 and 14/32

Steps for comparing fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 90 and 32 is 1440
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 90 × 16 = 1440,
    10/90 = 10 × 16/90 × 16 = 160/1440
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 32 × 45 = 1440,
    14/32 = 14 × 45/32 × 45 = 630/1440
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 160/1440 < 630/1440 or 10/90 < 14/32
