- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 12 - For the 1st fraction, since 6 × 2 = 12,
2/6 = 2 × 2/6 × 2 = 4/12 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 4 × 3 = 12,
2/4 = 2 × 3/4 × 3 = 6/12 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 4/12 < 6/12 or 2/6 < 2/4
