  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    24/15 = 24 × 4/15 × 4 = 96/60
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 4 × 15 = 60,
    42/4 = 42 × 15/4 × 15 = 630/60
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 96/60 < 630/60 or 24/15 < 42/4
