- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

32 = 3 × 32 × 3 = 96 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 3 × 2 = 6,
73 = 7 × 23 × 2 = 146 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 96 < 146 or 32 < 73
