  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 252
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 28 × 9 = 252,
    30/28 = 30 × 9/28 × 9 = 270/252
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 9 × 28 = 252,
    21/9 = 21 × 28/9 × 28 = 588/252
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 270/252 < 588/252 or 30/28 < 21/9
