  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 100

    36/50 = 36 × 2/50 × 2 = 72/100
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 4 × 25 = 100,
    16/4 = 16 × 25/4 × 25 = 400/100
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 72/100 < 400/100 or 36/50 < 16/4
