54 = 5 × 24 × 2 = 108 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 8 × 1 = 8,
78 = 7 × 18 × 1 = 78 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 108 > 78 or 54 > 78
