Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 40 - For the 1st fraction, since 8 × 5 = 40,
6/8 = 6 × 5/8 × 5 = 30/40 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 20 × 2 = 40,
4/20 = 4 × 2/20 × 2 = 8/40 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 30/40 > 8/40 or 6/8 > 4/20
