Steps for comparing fractions

  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:
    LCM of 4 and 90 is 180
  2. For the 1st fraction, since 4 × 45 = 180,
    60/4 = 60 × 45/4 × 45 = 2700/180
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 90 × 2 = 180,
    2/90 = 2 × 2/90 × 2 = 4/180
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 2700/180 > 4/180 or 60/4 > 2/90
