- Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

Next, find the equivalent fraction of both fractional numbers with denominator 6 - For the 1st fraction, since 2 × 3 = 6,
72 = 7 × 32 × 3 = 216 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 3 × 2 = 6,
23 = 2 × 23 × 2 = 46 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 216 > 46 or 72 > 23
