72 = 7 × 42 × 4 = 288 - Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 8 × 1 = 8,
78 = 7 × 18 × 1 = 78 - Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
- 288 > 78 or 72 > 78
