  1. Find the least common denominator or LCM of the two denominators:

    9/15 = 9 × 4/15 × 4 = 36/60
  3. Likewise, for the 2nd fraction, since 4 × 15 = 60,
    18/4 = 18 × 15/4 × 15 = 270/60
  4. Since the denominators are now the same, the fraction with the bigger numerator is the greater fraction
  5. 36/60 < 270/60 or 9/15 < 18/4
